Joey Ladouceur Has Tough Night at Brighton Speedway DIRTcar Series Race; Looking to Rebound at Super DIRT Week and Fall Nationals in October

Going into this past weekend’s events at Brighton Speedway on Friday night and Le RPM Speedway on Saturday night, Joey Ladouceur had built up a 58 point lead in the battle for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series championship. Brighton Speedway was a track that Joey had only visited once in his lift time, and that was well over 30 years ago, and although he has had some success in a Pro Stock at RPM Speedway, this would be his first assault on the small bullring in DIRTcar Sportsman competition.

Joey’s night started out with the usual DIRTcar Series time trials on Friday night at Brighton Speedway. After posting the seventh fastest speed in his group, Joey was on the inside of row four for his eight lap qualifying heat race. As the race progressed, he got more comfortable in the car, and advanced his position to fourth, just one spot out of the redraw for a top 12 starting position. Joey would have a long way to go from his 15th place starting position for the 35 lap main event, but was up to challenge, looking to extend his series lead. Joey was making progress early, and had just made his way inside the top ten when disaster struck. A lapped car just in front of Joey hit one of the yuke tires along the inside of the track, and knocked the tire onto the racing groove just in front of Ladouceur’s car. In a split second, the damage had been done, and Joey would be unable to continue due to front-end damage.

“It was a tough night for us at Brighton”, explains Ladouceur after the race. “The end result was a broken steering box. Hopefully the weather holds for RPM tomorrow so we can dig ourselves out of this points rut. We are currently down by 16 points at the moment”.

A forecast of rain through the day on Saturday, and forecast for continuous rain throughout the evening forced RPM and DIRTcar officials to cancel the DIRTcar Sportsman Series race scheduled for Saturday night. The next race in the DIRTcar Sportsman Series will take place on Wednesday, October 9th at the Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, New York, followed by Super DIRT Week action at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse with practice on October 10th, more practice, time trials and heat races on Friday, October 11th and the 30 lap Sportsman Championship on October 12th.

The 2013 season will come to an end on Friday, October 18th at Brockville Speedway for the annual 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

“It has been a good season for us, hopefully we can finish strong and be in a position to win the DIRTcar championship at Brockville next month”, says Ladouceur. “I really have to thank my family, the guys that work on the car, our sponsors and fans for their continued support this season”.

Joey Ladouceur Increases DIRTcar Series Point Lead After Top Ten Finish at Mohawk Raceway; Busy Weekend Ahead With Events at Brighton and RPM

After coming out of last weekend’s Ransomville-Merrittville-Humberstone road trip with the point lead in the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, Joey Ladouceur and his team were looking forward to getting back to Mohawk International Raceway and hoped to build on that lead on a track that Joey has become very familiar with over the years.

Like most DIRTcar Sportsman Series events, time trials set the field for the starting heats. Joey was fastest in his group and second fastest overall out of the 39 Sportsman teams that were on hand. Ladouceur started up front in his qualifying heat race, and claimed the win, earning a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting position. Joey would start the race from 10th place and quickly moved forward. By lap nine he was up to fourth place, and maintained a top five position through the final caution on lap 44. When the race resumed, Ladouceur fell back to eighth place, but still gained valuable points in the battle for the DIRTcar Sportsman championship.

“We hoped to have a little better finish, but it was a good points day for us in the DIRTcar Series”, says Ladouceur after the race. “We finished ahead of the other guys that we are battling for the championship. We will now get ready for a busy weekend coming up”.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Series will continue this weekend with stops at Brighton Speedway on Friday night and RPM Speedway in St. Marcel Quebec on Saturday night as Ladouceur carries a 58 point lead into the weekend. The team will then prepare for Super DIRT Week on October 9th to 12th and the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals to end the season at Brockville Speedway on October 18th.

Joey Ladouceur Continues to Lead the Way in DIRTcar Sportsman Series Points After Western Swing; Returns to Familiar Setting This Weekend

Going into this past weekend, Joey Ladouceur sat at the top of the point standings in his first year competing in the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. The weekend was going to be a true test, battling at tracks that he has not had much experience at, competing with others for the coveted championship that race weekly at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway.

The team was confident going into Friday night’s events at Ransomville. Joey had raced at the track earlier in the season, and posted his first career DIRTcar Sportsman Series win. He carried a 31 point lead going into the weekend. A sixth place finish in the qualifying heat race sent Ladouceur to the last chance consolation race. The car was fast, and Joey drove to victory, earning the 21st starting spot for the 50 lap main event. He quickly moved through the field, moving up to 17th before completing lap nine. Just a couple laps later he was up to 12th place, and continued to move forward, searching for the top ten. As the race continued, Joey had settled into 12th for several laps before making his way into the top ten for the first time by lap 43. He crossed the finish line in ninth place, and was eventually moved to eighth after another competitor did not successfully pass through post race inspection.

“It was a good night for us. We missed a few big wrecks, and the car is still straight, so we will build on this and look forward to the rest of the weekend”, says Ladouceur after the race. “We still have the point lead, and if we can continue that through the weekend we will be very happy”.

Merrittville Speedway was the next race on the schedule for Ladouceur. Ladouceur last visited the track earlier this year for the Pete Bicknell racing school, and was looking forward to having another solid night. Mother Nature soon intervened, and the race was cancelled, and will not be rescheduled.

The team turned their attention to Humberstone Speedway on Sunday night. Joey timed third fastest in his group, placing him third to start the qualifying heat race. He advanced to second place, earning a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting spot in the 50 lap main event. Starting from fourth after the redraw, Joey was looking for a solid finish to end the weekend. He maintained a top ten position throughout most of the event, before getting involved in a late race incident on the final restart. Ladouceur crossed the line in 13th place.

Despite the mixed results on the weekend, Ladouceur was able to increase his points lead, and now sits at the top of the standing by 35 points. This coming weekend, Ladouceur will visit a track that he has become very familiar with over the years, as Mohawk International Raceway is the next stop on the DIRTcar Sportsman schedule. The DIRTcar Series continues over the next several weeks, with events at Mohawk Raceway on September 14th, Brighton Speedway on September 20th, RPM Speedway on September 21st, followed by Super DIRT Week in Syracuse and the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals to end the season.

Joey Ladouceur would like to thank all of the sponsors that are on board for the 2013 racing season. Coffrage 20-20/Pompage 20-20, Fence Depot, Minimax Express, Glengarry Truck Centre, Gauvreau Terre de Surface, Mr. Radiator, Lakeside Landscaping, Au Vieux Duluth, Number One Speed Shock Service and Finish Line Web Design are all an integral part of the Ladouceur team and they look forward to sharing their success with all of you in the future.

Joey Ladouceur Claims Cornwall Speedway Sportsman Championship; Attention Turns to DIRTcar Sportsman Series With Big Weekend Ahead

After winning four consecutive championships at Cornwall Speedway in the Pro Stock division, many expected it would take a while for Joey Ladouceur to get back on top after moving into the Sportsman division this season. The ultra-competitive Sportsman division is full of great drivers, many who have several years experience. Despite being in his first year, Joey Ladouceur entered the final night of the season at Cornwall Speedway at the top of the standings, and was looking to end the season with a victory as well as the track title.

Sunday’s finale at Cornwall Speedway featured a 40 lap event for the Sportsman, with time trials setting the starting order for the qualifying heat races. Joey posted fast time in his group, and started the eight lap heat race from the front row. He won the race, earning a spot in the all important redraw for a top 12 starting spot in the main event. After randomly selecting the 10th position, Ladouceur fired from the outside of the fifth row, and quickly moved through the field. By the time they reached the halfway point, Joey began to challenge for the race lead, and grabbed the top spot on lap 23. For the remainder of the race it appeared Joey would be well on his way to victory, but lapped traffic on the final lap played a major factor in the outcome of the race, and he crossed the line in second place.

“We are a little disappointed that we didn’t get the win after leading all those laps, but at the end of the day, we finished at the top of the standings, and that was our primary focus for tonight”, says Ladouceur after the race. “We will now focus on the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, with a big weekend coming up”.

This coming weekend will have a huge impact on the chase for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series championship with three events on tap. The first race of the weekend will come on Friday night as they return to Ransomville Speedway, a track that Joey has already won at in 2013. On Saturday night, they travel to Merrittville Speedway before completing the weekend at Humberstone Speedway on Sunday night. The DIRTcar Sportsman Series continues over the next several weeks, with events at Mohawk Raceway on September 14th, Brighton Speedway on September 20th, followed by Super DIRT Week in Syracuse and the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals to end the season. Ladouceur currently leads the DIRTcar Sportsman series point standings by 31 points going into this weekend.
