Joey Ladouceur Gets Top Ten Finish at Can Am Motorsports Park; Will Return to Can Am This Friday Night Looking for First Career Sportsman Victory

With a nice weekend forecast, Joey Ladouceur and his Alexandria, Ontario based team were able to race a little closer to home this week, as Can Am Motorsports Park opened their season on Friday night. Ladouceur was a winner at Can Am last season with the Pro Stock on opening night, and was hoping to duplicate that success in the Sportsman division.

Joey struggled a little in his qualifying heat race, starting third, and slipped back to fifth before the checkered flag. After making some adjustment to the car, Ladouceur returned for his 25 lap feature, starting mid pack as he rolled off the starting grid from 13th out of the 26 car field. By the first caution on lap 5, Ladouceur had worked his way inside the top ten and continued to work his way forward. At the checkered flag, Ladouceur crossed the line in seventh place.

“It was a pretty good run for us”, says Ladouceur. We are a little bit off of the front running guys, but we will get there. I am pretty happy with our run, considering its only our second Sportsman start”.

This coming weekend, Ladouceur will return to Can Am once again, looking to improve on last weekend’s performance, and will be seeking his first career Sportsman feature win.

Joey Ladouceur would like to thank all of the sponsors that are on board for the 2013 racing season. Coffrage 20-20/Pompage 20-20, Fence Depot, Minimax Express, Glengarry Truck Centre, Gauvreau Terre de Surface, Stinger X Chassis, Au Vieux Duluth and Finish Line Web Design are all an integral part of the Ladouceur team and they look forward to sharing their success with all of you in the future.

Monday 22 April 2013

It was a weekend of revolving plans for Joey Ladouceur and his Alexandria, Ontario based race team. Eager to make his first career start in the Sportsman division, Ladouceur was determined to get to a racetrack somewhere over the weekend.

Joey had the season opening events at Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York on the schedule, but due to rain during the week and wet grounds, and more rain forecasted for Friday night, officials made the call in mid-week to cancel their program. The next destination of choice was Canandaigua Motorsports Park near Rochester, New York, but cold temperatures, rain and even snow forced them to cancel as well just before midday on Saturday.

With the car loaded up, and a race team eager to get to a racetrack somewhere, a decision was made to head to Fonda Speedway, located in the Capital District of New York State, just west of Albany. With 37 cars on hand, making the feature would be a daunting task for most at a track with minimal experience, in a class he hasn’t competed in before. A sixth place finish in the preliminary qualifying heat relegated him to the consolation race, and after a strong third place run he locked himself into a starting spot for the main event. Rolling off the starting grid from 23rd, Ladouceur ran a great race, moving up through the field, and dodging several wrecks in front of him. The end result was a 17th place finish.

“We always want to do better, but overall I am very happy with our first ever Sportsman race”, claims Ladouceur. “We missed a few wrecks and ended the night with not even a scratch on the car”.

Ladouceur will be back in the Sportsman car this weekend, at either Can Am on Friday night, or Merrittville Speedway on Saturday. The following weekend, Joey has a test run on the pavement scheduled for Saturday, May 4th at Autodrome Chaudiere in preparation for his first Pro Cam Series Truck race at the track on Saturday, May 18th. He will also test on Saturday, May 11th at Autodrome Montmagny. He will be back in the Sportsman car on Sunday, May 19th at Cornwall for their season opener.
