Joey Ladouceur Posts 12th Place Finish at Mohawk International Raceway Seaway Series Event

After a couple of busy weeks following the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman tour and the Seaway Sportsman Series in Quebec, Joey Ladouceur and his team had a much quieter weekend with just one race on the schedule. The Seaway Series visited the Mohawk International Raceway, and Joey was hoping the success that he has had at that track in the past in his Pro Stock would transfer into the Sportsman division. Cornwall Speedway did not have the Sportsman on the schedule for this week, but they ended up with yet another rainout.

On Friday night at Mohawk Raceway, Ladouceur began the night by posting the fourth fastest speed in the opening timed hot lap session, giving him the fourth position for the qualifying heat race. The eight lap race was a bit of a struggle, and Ladouceur crossed the finish line in fifth place. Although that finish was enough to lock him into the main event, He did miss out on the all important redraw position, and would have to start the 40 lap feature from the 19th starting position. By lap ten, Joey had worked his way to 14th place, but it was a struggle. The entire race went green to checkered without incident, making it even harder to make up any ground with the field spread out.

“It certainly wasn’t the run we wanted to have tonight”, explains Ladouceur after the race. “We will continue to work hard in the shop, and hopefully we will be better next week”.

After four of the five scheduled events in the Seaway Sportsman Series, Ladouceur currently is fifth in the point standings. He is currently second in points in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman series standing by just four points. He is also second in points at Cornwall Speedway by four points.

This coming weekend, Joey will return to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night looking for a strong run to get back on top of the point standings. The next events in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series are on September 6th, 7th and 8th at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedways. The final race in the Seaway Sportsman Series takes place on Sunday, September 1st at Cornwall.

Racing in the Ladouceur family dates back several years with the Laurent Ladouceur starting in the 70s. The passion was passed on to both of his sons Joey and Lee Ladouceur who both are accomplished championship winning drivers. There is now another Ladouceur just starting out in the karting division at Cornwall Speedway as Joey’s son Tristan is in his second year of racing. Living up to the family name, Tristan Ladouceur won his first ever feature win on Tuesday night at Cornwall.
