Joey Ladouceur Posts Solid Finishes at Cornwall Speedway and Autodrome Drummond; Frustrations Set in With Disappointing 13th Place Finish at Granby

It was a busy weekend of racing for Joey Ladouceur and his team as they traveled to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night for the usual race program, followed by another trip to Quebec as Joey brought his Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series point lead to Autodrome Drummond on Monday night and Autodrome Granby on Tuesday.

At Cornwall, the night began with a fourth place finish in his qualifying heat race after battling his way from the seventh starting spot. In the 20 lap feature, Joey rolled off the starting grid from the 12th position and quickly moved forward despite several caution periods throughout the race. He was inside the top five by lap four and up to third place as they completed lap 10. Over the next few laps, Joey worked his way to second place and maintained that spot through the remaining laps. Joey is currently second place in the point standings at Cornwall, just four points behind the leader.

The Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series resumed at Autodrome Drummond on Monday night. Joey set fast time in his group earning a front row starting spot in his heat race. After capturing the qualifying race win, Joey earned a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting spot in the 50 lap feature. He selecting position number four, and lined up on the outside of row two for the race. Ladouceur had several battles throughout the race, and ended the night with a solid third place run, almost getting second place in a photo finish at the checkered flag.

The series resumed at Autodrome Granby on Tuesday night. Joey finished his qualifying heat race from fourth place and once again earned a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting spot. By luck of the draw, he selecting starting spot number one, and led the field to green flag for the 50 lap feature. It was a struggle throughout the race for Ladouceur and he slowly faded through the field. He dodged a big wreck at one point, but still only managed a disappointing 13th place result, which will knock him from the top of the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman series point standings by just four points.

“It was a pretty frustrating night, but with a month off before the next DIRTcar Series race, it will give us some time to figure out what we did wrong tonight”, says Ladouceur after the race.

This coming weekend, Joey will be at Mohawk International Raceway for round four of the Seaway GM and Performance Sportsman Series. After the first three events of the series, Joey is currently fifth in the point standings. Cornwall Speedway does not have the Sportsman Series on the schedule for this weekend. The next events in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series are on September 6th, 7th and 8th at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedways.
