Joey Ladouceur Has Busy Weekend With Seaway Sportsman Series Races at Granby and Drummondville Plus Sunday Night Events at Cornwall Speedway

It was a busy weekend for Joey Ladouceur this week with the Seaway GM and Performance Seaway Series events at Autodrome Granby on Friday night, and Autodrome Drummond on Saturday before returning to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday for a regular race night.

The night started off well for Joey at Autodrome Granby. He was second fastest in his qualifying group, placing him second to start his heat race. He maintained that position and earned a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting position in the 40 lap main event. After randomly selecting the number four starting spot, Joey lined up on the outside of the second row for the main event. Joey was solidly inside the top ten and looked poised for a strong finish late in the race when he ran out of fuel. He returned to the track finishing a disappointing 24th place.

The Sportsman Seaway Series moved on the Autodrome Drummond on Saturday night. Joey had the fourth fastest time in his time trial session, placing him fourth to start his heat race. He finished in that same position, just missing a transfer into the top 12 redraw. Joey would start the 40 lap feature race from the 14th starting spot, and quickly found a line that worked on the top side of the track, and by the checkered flag he had moved up to sixth place.

“It was a good run for us tonight”, says Ladouceur after the race. “We really found a line that worked up near the cushion of the track and we were able to move up pretty good”.

The final stop on the weekend schedule was Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night. Joey entered the night as the points leader, and would have to start his qualifying heat race from the back of the pack. He moved up quickly, and crossed the finish line in third place. In the 20 lap main event, Joey started from 15th and struggled with the less than ideal track conditions. A build up of water on the inside of the corners once again played havoc with race teams all night long and Joey was no exception. To make matters worse, a flat tire on lap 12 sent him to the pits, and he returned to the rear of the field for the restart. At the checkered flag, Joey crossed the finish line with a disappointing 15th place finish.

It will be another busy week coming up for Joey, as he prepares for next Sunday night at Cornwall Speedway before returning to Autodrome Drummond on Monday night and Autodrome Granby on Tuesday night for the next two races in the Super DIRTcar Sportsman Series. Even though Joey is a rookie in the Sportsman division, he currently leads the point standings for the DIRTcar Sportsman series, and now sits second in points at Cornwall Speedway.
