Joey Ladouceur Battles to a Sixth Place Finish at Cornwall Speedway; Moves to the Top of Point Standings With Just Four Events Remaining

It has been a season to remember for Joey Ladouceur for many different reasons. Entering the year in a new division had many wondering just how well he would adapt after several seasons dominating the Pro Stock ranks. As we enter the final month of the season at Cornwall, Joey has proved that the transition was a success, as he not only battles for Rookie of the Year, but also the coveted Sportsman track championship.

In the eight lap qualifying heat race, Joey started from the sixth position and advanced to fourth by the end of the race. In the 20 lap main event, Joey started 11th and was working his way forward when contact from another car broke the left front shock tower. Not willing to give up, Joey drove the car anyway and miraculously battled to a sixth place finish. More importantly, Joey moved back into first place in the point standings (tied for first) with just four races remaining.

“I am pretty happy with that finish considering the damage to our left front”, says Joey after the race. “The track was in rough shape due to the rain we had throughout the day, it was really challenging, but we pulled through and salvaged a decent finish”.

This coming weekend, Joey will return to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night looking to get back to victory lane. The next events in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series are on September 6th, 7th and 8th at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedways. The final race in the Seaway Sportsman Series takes place on Sunday, September 1st at Cornwall.
