Joey Ladouceur Scores 100th Career DIRTcar Pro Stock Victory at Mohawk International Raceway; Spun Out at Cornwall While Battling for Win 101

It may have taken almost a month to get his 100th career win after scoring his 99th back on July 22nd at Cornwall, but with a limited schedule over that period Ladouceur was confident that he would be able to score the milestone win before long.   That win came this past Friday night at Mohawk International Raceway.  Joey was looking for win number 101 just two night later at Cornwall.

Friday night didn’t get off to a great start for Ladouceur, after contact from another car in his qualifying heat race caused a right front flat tire, sending him spinning in turn three.  He would have to start the 35 lap Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series finale from the rear of the field.  After just two laps, Joey was inside the top ten, and would move into the top five with the lap counter showing 11 laps complete.  With ten laps remaining, Joey was now up to third, and began to show that he had the fastest car on the track as he grabbed the top spot with just four laps remaining.  He went on to score his 100th career DIRTcar Pro Stock feature win.

“It was fun to win it that way”, says Ladouceur, referring to having to come from the rear of the field to score the milestone victory.  “I have always run well here at Mohawk.  I come here and relax and try to make the most of it”.

Joey was very much in contention for win number 101 on Sunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedway.  He was making a move for the lead late in the race until contact from the second place car sent him (and the car that spun him out) to the rear of the field.  Joey would bounce back to finish in 8th place.

Joey’s win at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night clinched his second straight Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Championship.  He currently leads the Mohawk Racing Part Pro Stock tour by 26 points going into the final race on September 2nd at Cornwall.  He also has a 52 point advantage in track points at Cornwall, and can clinch the championship this week with a solid performance.  The next Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series race will come at Autodrome Granby on Saturday, September 8th.

With double features on the schedule at Cornwall Motor Speedway for Joey Ladouceur and his fellow Pro Stock competitors on Sunday night, it was a great opportunity to get his 100th career DIRTcar Pro Stock victory on his home track in front of many of his fans.  It would have been a perfect setting to capture the memorable win.  Although it didn’t happen on this night, Ladouceur remains the point leader at Cornwall with just three more weeks remaining, and is on the verge of claiming his sixth Cornwall Motor Speedway Pro Stock championship.

“You are going to have nights like that sometimes in racing”, says Ladouceur after the race.  “It wasn’t a good night, but we will work hard in the shop through the week, and hope for better results next week”.

This coming week, Ladouceur will be at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night for the final round of the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series.   Joey currently leads the series by just two points, and will be looking to capture that 100th career win, and his second Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series championship.  On Sunday night, Ladouceur will return to Cornwall Motor Speedway with a 58 point lead in the battle for the Cornwall Pro Stock championship.  The track title, and the Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series championship will be decided on Sunday, September 2nd.  The next Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series race will take place on September 8th at Autodrome Granby.

The biggest weekend of the 2012 season was on Joey Ladouceur’s schedule this past weekend, as the team traveled to Quebec for a pair of Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series races, with both of them also a combined event with the Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series.  The team also had a third race on Sunday as a standalone Mohawk Series event.

“It would have been nice to get the win, but it was still a good run for us”, says Ladouceur.  “The 7 car (Rob Yetman) was pretty strong all night, and we just didn’t have anything for him tonight”.

Joey Ladouceur Wins on Friday Night at Mohawk Raceway; Gearing up For Busy Weekend of Racing in Quebec

After struggling last week at Mohawk Raceway Joey Ladouceur made a late decision to return again this week after making several changes to his car.  With big events in Quebec on the horizon, Ladouceur felt the opportunity to test those changes without points on line was going to be very important.   He also returned to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday after getting rained out last Sunday night.

At Mohawk Raceway, Ladouceur started the 20 lap Pro Stock main event from the sixth starting spot.  He worked his way up steadily, and took the lead on lap eight and never looked back.  The win was his 97th career DIRTcar Pro Stock victory, which leads all Pro Stock competitors in the history of the class.

“We really struggled here last week in the series race, and we had to come back after making some changes to the car”, says Ladouceur.  “We have some big races coming up next week, and I wasn’t comfortable going into those races not knowing how well the changes would work”.

On Sunday, Ladouceur was back at Cornwall Speedway.  After starting at the back of his qualifying heat, he charged to the front to grab the lead before they completed lap two and went on to win.  In the 20 lap feature, Ladouceur charged through the field to take the top spot briefly, but dropped to second in the closing laps.

This coming week will be busy for Ladouceur, with three events lined up in Quebec.  On Friday night, he will be at Autodrome Granby for a combined Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock/Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock series event, and then on to Autodrome Drummond on Saturday for a similar event.  On Sunday, Ladouceur and team will be at Le RPM Speedway in St. Marcel, Quebec for a standalone Mohawk Racing Parts Series event.

Joey Ladouceur Gets Fourth Place Finish in Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series Race at Mohawk Raceway; Cornwall Speedway Rained Out

With the popular Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series in action at Mohawk Raceway, Joey Ladouceur was looking forward to resuming the series in which they have won 8 times in his career.  After finishing fourth in the series opener for 2012 at Cornwall, Ladouceur was hoping for a little better finish this time around.  In addition to the event being a Mohawk Racing Parts Series event, it was also a combined series race with the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series, which Ladouceur is also the defending champion.  Also on the weekend schedule was the customary Sunday night events at Cornwall Speedway.

Ladouceur started the 35 lap Pro Stock Series race from outside of row four after drawing eighth in the redraw for starting positions after the heats.  After an early caution, the next 27 laps went caution free, and Ladouceur was able to work his way into the top five.  The final caution of the race came on lap 31 and Ladouceur was able to move up one additional spot to fourth at the checkered flag.

“It wasn’t the run that we wanted to have, but we will take it and move on”, says Ladouceur.  “We have had a pair of top fives to start the Mohawk Series, and hopefully we can get the car working a little better before we head up to Quebec for the races next Month”.

The plan was to attend Cornwall Speedway on Sunday, as the Pro Stocks were joined on the schedule by the World of Outlaw Late Models.  A mid-afternoon rain shower and a forecast for more rain throughout the evening forced track officials to cancel the events for the night.

This coming weekend, Ladouceur will return to Cornwall for their regular program.  The following weekend will be busy as Ladouceur travels to Autodrome Granby and Autodrome Drummond for combined Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series/Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series events, and then on to Le RPM Speedway on Sunday for a standalone Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series race to complete the weekend.
