The biggest weekend of the
2012 season was on Joey Ladouceur’s schedule this past weekend, as the team
traveled to Quebec for a pair of Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series races, with both
of them also a combined event with the Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock
Series. The team also had a third race
on Sunday as a standalone Mohawk Series event.
On Friday night, Ladouceur
traveled to Autodrome Granby to start the weekend. trip. Joey took to the track for time trials and
was second fastest in his group, earning him a front row starting spot in his
qualifying heat. Joey would go on to
finish second in his qualifier, earning a spot in the redraw for the night’s 50
lap main event. He started on the
outside of the front row, and took over the top spot on lap nine and held that
for the next 12 laps before falling to second on lap 21. Joey would go on to finish the race in second.
“It would have been nice to
get the win, but it was still a good run for us”, says Ladouceur. “The 7 car (Rob Yetman) was pretty strong
all night, and we just didn’t have anything for him tonight”.
Ladouceur moved on to
Autodrome Drummond on Saturday for another Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock/Mohawk Racing
Parts combined event. Ladouceur was
fourth fastest in his time trial group, placing him fourth to start his
preliminary qualifier, but he charged to lead on lap six of the eight lap race,
once again earning a spot in the redraw.
Joey started the race in fifth, and struggled early, falling outside the
top five during the early stages of the race.
As the night progressed, Joey rebounded in the second half of the race
to score a fourth place finish.
The final stop on the
weekend was at le RPM Speedway in St. Marcel Quebec. This was the fifth event of the six race Mohawk Racing Parts Pro
Stock Series. After finishing fifth in his
qualifying heat, Joey started the 50 lap race from tenth place, and charged through
the field in the opening laps. By lap
eight he was up to second place and maintained that spot through lap 46 when he
had a flat tire. He charged from the
rear of the field in the closing laps to score another top five finish.
After 11 events in 2012,
Ladouceur has placed in the top five in all events. He also has five feature wins.
He is the point leader at Cornwall Motor Speedway, and also leads the
points in the Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series as he goes after his fourth
consecutive Mohawk series title, and ninth of his career.
Ladouceur will return to
Cornwall Motor Speedway this coming Sunday night.
